Solid facts, as provided by the previous owner Miles Miller from the USA

Please Note: In the 10+ years it has taken to restore WEC12, we have returned the vehicle to as close as possible to the car which was delievered to the war office in 1944. As you read Miles Miller's facts below, please understand that much of the restoration has repaired many of the aged parts, We believe that WEC12 is now ready for the next 100 years.

The restoration has been a labour of love, and an attempt to ensure that this 1939 Rolls Royce Wraith will live on for the next generation of Rolls Royce enthusiasts to enjoy.

  • The body of the car is 90% Aluminium. I used a magnet to verify this.

  • The semaphore turn vanes are original. And were working the last time I saw them.

  • The flying lady must be turned to open either side of the hood.

  • Flying lady on the radiator has a hole in her to screw in the staff, to put a flag on.

  • The cloth is the original wool.

  •  Of course the chassis is iron or steel.

  • The jump seats are all original.

  • The floor mats in the back are original.

  • There are buttons on the armrests in the back seat that I never did find out their use. One is to raise the glass partition.

  • There was a curtain that rolled down to cover the back window of the car. It has since vanished. I still have remnants of the cloth.

  • The windshield wipers have the original rubber. They are opera ted by a hand crank above the front windshield. I never drove it in the rain.

  • There is a heater between the backseats, but the hose that connects them to that heater is dis-connected on back left side of the engine.

  • The cloth in the back seat of the car is original, as is the ceiling cloth

  • There is a glass partition between the front seat and the back seat that is electrically operated.

  • Some thirty years ago new oil rings were installed on the piston.

  • You will notice that the two front horns are different. It was that way when I brought it.

  • There is a backup tube, that little tube that changes the 12 volts to 25,000volts, on the engine.

  • The front louvers are supposed to move as the temperature of the radiator warm sup or cools down.

  • There should have been two jacks in the trunk of the car, one hydraulic and one screw type.

  • There are five brand new white side wall tires, with less man 200 miles on them. They are some three years old.

  • I have a box of keys that I will send to you.

  • On the steering wheel is the original cruise control.

  • I bought a new battery about three years ago.

  • The jump seats in the back work perfectly.

  • I have a letter from a book writer, asking about the crank, it seems that all the other rolls had a hole in the bumper for the crank.

  • The electric fuses have a wire that melts if too much electricity is passed through them. One of the fuses broke and I used the "lost wax process" to make a new one.

  • There is built in jacking system for the front of the car and one for the back of the car. Jacking oil is located on the front fire wall. The cranking part is on the left side of the front floor.

  • About five years ago the crank would not fit in the hole to turn the engine over. I had new motor mounts installed.

  • There is a tool door that slides out on the bottom of the left side front seat.

  • The front mirror on the front left fenders broke and I had to weld it together.

  • As to the tires, they have new inner tubes in them.

  • The original microphone in the back seat to the receiver in the front.

  • The muffler is the original.

  •  The rubber on the running boards are original.

  • There is a spanner on the front fire wall for removing the tires.

  • There should be a crank to start the motor.

  • The points I think are original, I only filed them and set them again.

  • The original fan belt became frayed ten years ago after 60years, and I had to replace it.

  • The wrenches for the car are not American sae size, or metric size, but is called Whitworth (sp).

  • There should be a socket set in that drawer on the left bottom of the front seat.

  • I painted the car about 15 years ago and when sanding on spot on the front right fender, noticed there were some 10 layers of paint. Two or so layers were grey primer followed by a coat of colour paint two or so were white primer followed by a coat of colour paint one was red primer followed by a coat of colour paint and then I added a primer coat and a colour coat
